Why Hong Kong? That question often stands at the top of a list of considerations for opening shop in the former British Crown Colony. Why not leapfrog right into the Mainland? The argument in favour of Hong Kong is one you hear over and over: it’s China without the hassles. “When we get people in Canada to understand what one country, two systems really means to them, the challenge is getting them to understand Hong Kong isn’t a museum piece,” says Simon Galpin, director-general of investment promotion for Invest Hong Kong. “There have been many developments in Hong Kong that make it even better.”
